Firewood Room & Entry

While your exterior facade is the cover of your book, your entryway is very much the forward; we want to set the look and feel as soon as someone walks through the door. To that end, we utilized JuJu Papers ‘A View of the Woods’ wallpaper and a 36” tall wainscoting (that jumps up to 6’ in the coat hook section), and anchored the space with two massive benches I had cut from a single fallen tree. I also chose to utilize Color Cord’s button light, as I wanted to limit the amount of recessed lights we used…recessed lights don’t give you that farmhouse feel, but a surface mounted fixture certainly does; the challenge here was to get a light that looks great, but is small because we only have 8’ ceilings in the center of the home…Color Cord nailed it with this one, and its at a great price point too.

Lastly, as you will see throughout the home, we used COREtec luxury vinyl plank flooring, and after living with it now for the past 4 months I gotta tell you I LOVE IT! It’s 100% waterproof, Rossi can’t scratch it if he tried, so great for pets, and it literally looks like real wood. I can’t say enough good things about it! Oh, and the install was easy (depending on your skill level), but even as a beginner it might take you longer, but you can do it and do it right. That said, I would start with a straight install, as the herringbone is a bit more involved.
